ABOUT US

Black Boyz Rock is dedicated to addressing the unique and essential emotional, sociological and academic needs of boys  from economically challenged households.

This population has historically been underserved, underprivileged and disenfranchised due to systemic conscious and unconscious societal plaques that are beyond their control. These Boys of also have to deal with a criminal justice system and laws proven not to be administered fairly when compared to their counterparts. The cumulative result is that these boys  have been unprepared to be a positive contributing members of society.

This limited access to academic, scientific, technological, vocational and athletic opportunities have left these boys at a disadvantage when compared to their counterparts.

The vision and the mission of Black Boyz Rock is to ignite opportunity through the advancement of knowledge and education. In addition to promoting social and emotional health that accelerate academic and intellectual growth. We want our scholarship recipients to have the same opportunities that they have historically not have access to. It is our goal to even the playing field to an already disenfranchised population. Our focus areas are the charlotte metro area and brooklyn metro area.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

My name is Darryle Williams-Jones, PhD I extend a gracious and love filled hello to each of you! Starting Black Boyz rock Is extremely personal and important to me. Growing up as a black boy in a single parent home in the inner city  presented many challenges to say the least. My mother worked overtime six days a week to make sure that my brother and I had the things that we needed but money was tight. I was an exceptionally bright child who excelled in academics. I was provided access to many academic, scienitific and technological experiences that other black and brown boys that lived in my community did not have access to. It is in this environment that I quickly learned how lucky I was to be able to participate in and do things that my mother would not have been able to afford. My exposure to all these experiences and the knowledge that I gained could not have been possible without those who invested in me in and out of my community.

hank You for helping to make a difference!
